Lybba's Start
The story of Lybba began during one of my life's most difficult chapters, when my son was suffering from mysterious bouts of chronic stomach pain. Countless hours were spent at his bedside, and although a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease was made, our journey was far from over. As my wife and I desperately searched for support and answers we were met with contradictory advice from medical experts, and a tangled web of complex, and scattered information that was hard to follow or trust.
My experience led me to believe that when someone is first diagnosed with a disease, they might as well be the only person who's ever had it. Every patient starts from the same place, square one, alone and afraid. As the parent of a child who struggled with a chronic disease, I've experienced that sense of fear and loneliness. I feel that the opportunity is there to make a difference, not just for my son and our family, but for anyone else who seeks answers and support. Out of this desire, Lybba was born.
My hope is that with Lybba, we can work together to solve some of the questions plaguing the world of medicine. If the Internet allows us to share information with unprecedented ease, how can we best take advantage of this to help care for each other? How can we harness technology to help patients become aware of information they never knew existed? What new insights will we gain by connecting not just patients to patients, but patients to physicians, physicians to researchers, and collaboration everywhere in between? What are the best elements of the communities that benefit your life, and how can Lybba's communities of care adopt them?
I created Lybba to explore all of these questions and more, but Lybba is not just a personal passion of mine. I want to bring together every patient looking for answers, provide a platform so that every stakeholder has a voice. Please join with us, I believe that everyone has something of value to share. Together, we can create a community where innovation, empowerment, and compassion flourish.
Do Good. Be Well.
